When you’re here

There’s a photo I took of my son as a young kid, red sweater, red backdrop, laughing, framed on my living room console table. Last week I noticed a small sliver of yellow paper sticking out of where you put the photo in, so I opened it. Behind the photo was $50 and a post-it note from my mom that simply read “I love you son”.

Goodbye, Eleanor

Saturday night, on May 10th at around 8pm, my sister Beth and I lost our mother Eleanor. She had been fighting cancer for the second time, this time it was too aggressive for her to overcome. I will miss her greatly and deeply saddened not to have had more time to say goodbye, but I am thankful her fight is over. I am thankful she knew she was loved. Rest in peace mom. I love you.

“It is so good to remember”

Just reminded of such great memories during remodeling of an 80 year old house in Cement, OK. While kids in school had so much fun working with Mr. Wade, kids grandpa. He cut every board for each window, each door faceing. I sanded and stained, twice. He, (80 years old at the time– house 72 years old) knew how to do it all. Me, first job as carpenters assistant, kinda like Beth in her welding experiences. Thank goodness I had a pro to learn from, again, and such fun. Grandma Wade had lunch ready at NOON, (pop started at 8AM, stoped at 5PM and lunch at NOON, no mattter what, and I was invited. I had forgotten how much fun that was. Peggy just reminded me, just during a general conversation with friend Chanda. It is so good to remember (or be reminded of) good things that happened in your life. Thank YOU Peggy. I had forgotten. Where is that picture of that 72 year old home? I know you have it Beau.

“A big wonderful long hug”

We had the most wonderful day today and I thank you. Seems like it started with a big wonderful long hug and ended with one too. Dee and especially I enjoyed so much just passing time with you two. You two just made the 6 hours double. I am now home and tired, but HAPPY tired. Did I tell you that I love you? I do. Thank you for taking the time out of your way. I feel special. You are special. “I feel like I have been to Australia again”

Thank you Beau. I do appreciate you and following your travels. I feel like I have been to Australia again. 😉 I KNOW I have been to NYC, such wonderful memories with you there and I thank you for that wonderful experience again. I will never forget it

Austin is beautiful. Lots of lakes and camping areas. It is actually less mileage than Dallas or OKC. I have not been there for many years but some things do not change a lot. I would think you could do well there.

Meeting in Galveston would be fun. Do you ever visit their web page. They have rebuilt and repaired better than ever. Think I am our of space and will holler at you later. Love you Beau. Mom

“A dream within a dream”

“A dream within a dream”. He took me to a “Neal Diamond” concert, twice no less. “Sweet Caroline” was his favorite. Did you know that? Also, “My Way” by Frank Sanatra. We danced to both he he. He loved following you through your photos. It is only 11:20 June 30th here. Thank you for the buffer. Have been blue all day and feeling stupid for it. J.L. still ask about him as if doesn’t realize he is gone (89 this past Feb. and Dad was too young to go). Smooches and hugs. Love U. Mom

Putting Christ back in Christmas

Mom snuck in a fake $5 note with a religious message on Nate’s gift.
I’m just confused on if I should be offended by the subversive attempt on my 10 year old without any heads up to me or his mom, or the fact that she didn’t make the same effort to save my eternal soul as well.
